Do you find it more difficult to come up with card ideas for guys? Sometimes flowers just won't do. That is when it is great to have a stamp set like the Stampin' Up! Nature Silhouettes. While the silhouette images can be used for all the seasons, I was given the task of a special order.
My parents called and asked if I had any buck (deer) stamps. Immediately Nature Silhouettes came to mind. Not just any buck, but a majestic buck. The buck stamp was needed for the inside of the card. You'll see that further down in my post.
Before we get to the buck, I wanted you to see a close-up view of the silhouette tree scene. It would have been pretty stamped in a solid color, but I had different picture in my head for this card. I used the Many Marvelous Markers to color the tree trunk, leaves and grass. If you haven't done this before, you can view a video demonstration of how to get multiple color images from one stamp.
Isn't it amazing what can be done with a stamp and a few markers? Having the Many Marvelous Markers allows you to have a lot more versatility with your stamps. Again, it would have been pretty as a solid stamped image, but once you see this, it is hard to image this card stamped in one color.
Have a look at the full card:
The buck would have looked beautiful in the fall scene, but remember, we are saving it for inside the card. In place of the buck, I added a birthday greeting from the Curly Cute stamp set. Once again, the Many Marvelous Markers were used for a colorful "Happy Birthday".
Ready for the inside? My brother's birthday is today. He loves deer hunting and has recently taken up bow hunting. The beautifully warm weather has not made for good deer hunting (even though I am thoroughly loving it!). When asked what he wanted for his birthday, his response was a buck. Well, we truly have some rotten people in our family. They thought this would be funny.
Around some folks you really have to be careful what you ask for. :) I'm sure my brother will get a good chuckle. It's a lot nicer than the card our little brother gave him.
