How many different attempts do you go through coming up with a card design you like?
For me, sometimes it works like I had it pictured in my head. But, not for my November Customer Thank You Card.
French Foliage was the stamp set I wanted to use. I've been playing a lot with the Gently Falling set from the 2011 Holiday Mini Catalog. Still wanting to make an autumn card, but it was time to shake things up a bit.
Wanting to break out of using More Mustard and Soft Suede because I kept using the Spice Cake Designer Series Paper for my Gently Falling cards, I went to the Color Coach for a fresh color combination. My colors of choice were Perfect Plum, Cajun Craze and Always Artichoke. Still warm with unexpected Perfect Plum thrown in.
My first couple of attempts at the idea in my head hit the trash. From those I made this card:
Then I changed the orientation of the leaves a bit and added some sponging:
My husband liked the second card. I wasn't sold on it. Definitely preferred the card before the sponging. Was it good enough to express my gratitude to my lovely customers?
Well, it wasn't. The next morning I scratched everything except the stamp set and my Color Coach. Here is a video of how I made my handmade November Customer Thank You Card:
