Same Hue or Contrast for My Stampin’ Up! Pretty Pumpkins Cards?

Elegant Handmade Pumpkin Card with Stampin' Up! Pretty Pumpkins Stamp Set www.stampingsmiles.comEarlier this month, I made an elegant handmade pumpkin card with the Stampin’ Up! Pretty Pumpkins Stamp Set. As I was using the detailed pumpkin dies, I could hardly wait to design a greeting card with the three pumpkins stamp. What surprised me was what turned out to be my favorite color choice for the background paper.¬†

I stepped out of my usual by using the Misty Moonlight pattern from the Harvest Meadow 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper, a contrasting color instead of a color of the same hue. Then, I turned it over to apply Stampin’ Seal and saw the Bumblebee pattern. Hello, Comfort Zone. ūüôā I also liked the blue and found it difficult to choose between the two. The solution? Make one of each!

The Bumblebee is pretty too. Either in my mailbox would put a smile on my face. You already know, the blue background paper is my favorite. I hope to remember to try a contrasting color more often. Which of my Stampin’ Up! Pretty Pumpkins cards do you prefer?

The pumpkins were colored with Stampin’ Blends (alcohol markers). I used Calypso Coral and Cajun Craze to blend together for both shading and highlighting. The final results are remarkable for even those like me without any training.¬†

A strip of the 3/8″ Diamond Weave Ribbon from the July-December 2021 Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalog created a nice border to cover the otherwise blunt edge of the background paper.

Soft and Pretty Christmas Card with Stampin’ Up! Thinking Thanks & Peace

Soft and pretty Stampin' Up Thinking Thanks & Peace card idea www.stampingsmiles.comDid you see my simple and stunning Peace on Earth card with the Stampin’ Up! Thinking Thanks & Peace Stamp Set? If not, you can see it HERE.

Today, I used the same big and beautiful Peace on Earth stamp for a handmade Christmas card idea with more color. The soft pink and green in the Whimsy & Wonder 12″ x 12″ Specialty Paper is sure pretty with the soft pink surrounding the greeting and dove.

The white embossing resisted the Petal Pink Classic Stampin’ Pad ink that was applied with a Blending Brush.

The dove was stamped on a piece of paper and hand-trimmed to cover the embossed dove while the Petal Pink ink was rubbed over the larger Peace on Earth greeting. Dotto Repositionable Adhesive held it in place and then removed. That is the technique called masking. It prevented the ink from filling in the outlined dove.

Simple and Stunning Stampin’ Up! Thinking Thanks & Peace Cards!

Simple & Stunning Stampin' Up! Thinking Thanks & Peace Cards www.stampingsmiles.comThe large “Peace of Earth” greeting with the dove has a beautiful script font, dove, and message. I was trying to figure out how to use it without getting lost in what I thought would feel like clutter. Then, it hit me. Clean and simple was the way to go. My Stampin’ Up! Thinking Thanks & Peace cards are simple and stunning!

The white embossing on the Night of Navy Cardstock is striking. The second handmade Christmas card idea adds a layer of Basic White Cardstock behind the Peace on Earth and is given a lift with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Which one do you prefer?

Stampin’ Up! used to carry the Embossing Buddy. It was retired years ago but still important when heat embossing, especially on dark cardstock. You rub it over the cardstock before stamping and sprinkling on embossing powder to dramatically reduce powder sticking everywhere. I found an embossing powder tool that works like it on Amazon.¬†

The Stampin’ Up! For Unto Us Stamp Set was used inside for the sentiment on both of my Stampin’ Up! Thinking Thanks & Peace cards.¬†

I used the omitting technique to isolate only the dove for inside with a Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Marker.

It was easy to get the placement because I can see around the rubber stamp on its clear acrylic block.

Thinking Thanks & Peace along with For Unto Us are great stamp sets to have on hand even if you prefer your handmade Christmas cards to be more elaborate. Clean and simple Christmas cards are a godsend when the time is short to finish your cards.
